Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analysis on health promotion behavioral factors in adults.

Method: Data on 185 adult between the ages of 27 and 77 were collected from August, 2007 to October, 2007. The instruments were perceived health status by Lawton(1982) and health locus of contrl by Wallston, Wallston & Devellis(1978). Collected data were analyzed with such characteristics as the chronbach¡¯s alpha, frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation, chi-square, t-test and the Pearson¡®s correlation coefficient through SPSS 10.0 program

Results: The findings of this study are as follows.
1) There is a significant difference between male and female in perceived health status(t=2.62, p= .01) and internal health locus of contrl(t=2.52, p= .01).
2) The BMI in male adult had a significantly positive correlational relationship with economic level(r=.286, p=.003). And female adult had a significantly positive correlational relationship with No. of present illness(r=.209, p=.023).
3) The No. of present illness in male adult had a significantly positive correlational relationship with age(r=.250, p=.008), female adult had a significantly positive correlational relationship with age(r=.304, p=.002), negative correlational relationship with economic level(r=-.388, p=.000).
4) The perceived health status(PHS) in male adult had a significantly positive correlational relationship with BMI(r=.215, p=.019) and economic level(r=.193, p=.032), negative correlational relationship with No. of present illness(r=-.325, p=.001). The PHS in female adult had a significantly positive correlational relationship with economic level(r=.173, p=.049), negative correlational relationship with No. of present illness(r=-.386, p=.000).
5) The chance health locus of contrl(HLC-C) in male adult had a significantly positive correlational relationship with economic level(r=-.172, p=.049), and female adult had a significantly positive correlational relationship with age(r=.206, p=.024).

Conclusions: From this research findings, it¡¯s necessary to develop health promotive program focusing on perceived health status and health locus of control in gender of adults gap.
